We checked into this hotel after 29 hours of travel and was greeted with a moist towel to freshen up and a tasty ginger tea. We were also given a white piece of cloth that represents purity in the local culture. I get and appreciate the concept of the cloth but it was kind of poorly made and tacky in my opinion. We ended up bringing it and leaving it at a local monastery as an offering, which seems to be what people do.
Staff were very attentive and rooms were large and clean. Booking SPG hotels in Bhutan is a bit weird since you have to go through a tour operator if you're not a citizen so they didn't have my SPG membership on file until I checked in and provided them with my SPG number. Afterwards they were very responsive and thankful for my status.
The breakfast was very good and had more of an Indian flair. The staff, including who appeared to be the manager on shift at the restaurant, all seemed anxious when running around and not calm. This is likely because the property has only been open for a few months so they're still trying to get the hang of things.
Only downside is that there are sounds of dogs barking at night. There are many stray dogs throughout the country so this is unfortunately something that can't really be avoided anywhere you go. Perhaps asking for a room on a higher floor may help.
Overall a very pleasant property and good stay.
